The next time you head to your local cigar retailer looking for a travel case, you’ll have a new option that stands out from the common hard plastic cases that are prevalent on the market.

Colibri has begun shipping its newest take on the travel case, which it has dubbed the Explorer. Instead of the hard-sided boxes that you’re likely familiar with, the Explorer is made from premium Saffiano leather, with an innovative, protective, and tight sealing zipper keeping humidity securely inside.

Inside the case, mesh pockets encourage air flow among the dozen or so cigars that the case can hold. Colibri says it is designed to hold up to 12 Churchill-sized cigars–they use a 7 x 54 vitola as the example–but your capacity will vary based on what sizes you choose to fill it up with.

The front of the Explorer offers an integrated pocket that provides protective slots for both a lighter and cutter.

The Explorer has a suggested retail price of $250 and comes with a two-year warranty. It is also available via the company’s website.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
