Freud Cigar Co. is getting ready to release the second of three cigars for its Carlos & Maria brand, and it will be a limited edition that will debut at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show later this month.

It’s called Orgasmo, with the name representing “the passion” of the storyline, and serves as a follow-up to Amorio, a line named for “everlasting love,” Gerald Tritt, director of operations for Freud Cigar Co. told halfwheel. Tritt added that the third line, which is not yet named, is looking like a PCA 2025 release and will come with a name that represents “an extension of the love.”

The limited edition Orgasmo is a different blend than the regular production Amorio, which debuted at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show. Like Amorio, though, Orgasmo’s blend was developed by Wiber Ventura and produced by Tabacalera William Ventura. Orgasmo uses an Ecuadorian wrapper, an Indonesian Sumatra binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Tritt described the profile as peppery and highlighted by salted caramel.

It’s being offered in a 6 x 60 gordo vitola and will be priced at $21 per cigar and $210 for a box of 10 cigars. Production is limited to 500 boxes, which are expected to ship to stores in late April or early May.

Tritt added that there are still plans to bring the Carlos & Maria brand into other luxury products, specifically spirits, something that was mentioned when the line debuted last summer.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
