It has been more than seven years since a new line from Cabal Cigars was mentioned on this site, but now the company is shipping a new release that it is calling Initiative.

Chris Arolfo, owner of Cabal Cigars, has not disclosed much about the cigar, though photos of the bundles reveal that the blend features a corojo wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. It is a 4 1/2 x 50 petit robusto, and it is made at TABACALERA LA iSLA, the Dominican factory owned by Hostos Fernández Quesada.

According to a comment posted by the Cabal Cigars Instagram account, pricing is set at $100 per pack of 10 cigars. It is a regular production line, per Arolfo.

Update (Dec. 16, 2022) — Chris Arolfo noted that the cigars have a closed foot, and that a secondary band and a small change to the classic band will be added to the next batch of Initiative. He also noted that the next batch will be packed in foil, and that it will be an ongoing production.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
