Mudi Kpohraror will become the new state government relations director at the Cigar Association of America (CAA), an industry trade group.

He joins CAA after spending a year at Twitter working on state and local issues. He previously worked for the North Dakota Republican Party, Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., Goff Public—a Minnesota lobbying firm—as well as the Army National Guard.

“Mudi will continue to enable and advance how we advocate on behalf of our member companies to ensure that they have an active voice at the state level,” said David Ozgo, CAA’s president, in a press release. “Chris Newbry does an amazing job working with and directing our more than 40 state government affairs consultants across the country. With Mudi, we will add to our capabilities. We couldn’t be more thrilled he’s joined the team.”

Kpohraror will join CAA on May 23 and report to Newbry, CAA’s vp of state relations.
