Following up on yesterday’s news that Macanudo will be adding the Gigante (6″ x 60) vitola to the Café and Maduro lines, General Cigar Co. has announced a new size for the CAO. La Traviata Maduro, called the Luminoso.

The new addition mirrors the vitola of the same name in the CAO La Traviata line, measuring 4.5 x 50 in a Rothschild vitola. It will come with an MSRP of $5.10 per cigar, or $153.00 for a 30-count box.

In a statement issued by General Cigar, Ed McKenna, CAO’s senior brand manager said that “CAO La Traviata ‘Luminoso’ is one of our top sellers, so it was only natural that we gave CAO fans a new take on one of their favorite cigars.” He added that “Rick Rodriguez and I are looking forward to receiving some great feedback about CAO La Traviata Maduro Luminoso on our website, CAOCigars.com.”

Like the existing La Traviata Maduro line, the cigar uses a Connecticut Maduro wrapper, Cameroon binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
