The first new core line offering blended at Blackbird Cigar Co.’s relatively new Dominican factory will debut later this month. It’s also the first cigar with a habano wrapper that will be part of the company’s core line offerings.

It’s called Superb, a two-size line that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over an undisclosed binder and filler mixture. Blackbird said the company started working on the blend in the third quarter of last year, first by examining its current blends and realizing that there was no habano line.

Update (Feb. 12, 2024) — This cigar began shipping to cigar clubs on Feb. 5. It is expected to begin shipping to other stores in March.

“We started blending with that wrapper and the challenge began…,” said the company in a press release. “We did too many blends, mixed with too many tobaccos in the filler that, honestly, it was exhausting. But one day, after several tests, a burned out palate, at 3 a.m. in the morning we decided to try the last blend… suddenly the room went silent… we all realized that THIS blend felt like we had just arrived in Paradise!”

  • Blackbird Superb Robusto Gordo (5 x 54) — $9.36 (Box of 21, $196.56)
  • Blackbird Superb Toro (6 x 52) — $10.72 (Box of 21, $225.28)

In addition, Blackbird says it is updating its existing core lines’ packaging, which will be similar to the 21-count boxes used for Superb.

TPE 2024 takes place Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in Las Vegas.

Update (Feb. 12, 2024) — Clarified the shipping status.
