Black Star Line Cigars is going to be giving one of its store exclusives a nationwide launch at this summer’s PCA Convention & Trade Show.

Earlier this year, the company produced Mr. Fahrenheit as a limited edition cigar for Underground Cigar Shop’s NFG23 event, releasing it in a 5 x 50 robusto vitola that was limited to 1,000 cigars. Now, the blend will be offered in a 6 x 46 corona vitola with a shaggy foot that will be priced at $11.99 per cigar and offered in 20-count bundles and boxes.

The blend features a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Dominican binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It is being produced by TABACALERA LA iSLA in the Dominican Republic and is expected to begin shipping to stores immediately following the trade show, which happens from July 7-11 in Las Vegas. The company is producing 5,000 cigars for the initial batch, but said that the line will be available on an ongoing basis as it is being added as a regular production item to its portfolio.

The name stems from Queen’s song “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and is a merging of Black Star Line Cigars’ owner Aric Bey’s previous career as a firefighter as well as his love of the band and its music.

“I am a retired Chicago firefighter and a huge fan of Queen so I thought this would be a great way to represent both,” Bey said in a press release, adding that it is named in honor of and to pay homage to firefighters. “We will also be donating money from this release to Ignite the Spirit charity to help families of firefighters.”

According to its website, Ignite the Spirit is a charity that was founded around 2003 and has helped over 750 families in need, donating more than $1.7 million to ease the hardship of Chicago Fire Department families.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
