After a hiatus of several years, Black Star Line Cigars will be reintroducing the robusto vitola to its War Witch Line at the upcoming PCA Convention & Trade Show, as well as adding the size to its Dark War Witch line and introducing new bands for the War Witch and Lalibela lines.

The robustos both measure 5 x 50 and will be priced at $11.99 and offered in 20-count boxes and bundles. “The Connecticut War Witch Robusto has been sold out for a couple of years and I thought this would be a great time to bring it back for regular production,” Aric Bey, owner of Black Star Line Cigars, told halfwheel. “Since the Dark War Witch was well received in the Corona box pressed vitola, I decided to release the new vitola for that as well.”

Both blends are Nicaraguan puros, with the original War Witch using a shade-grown Connecticut-seed wrapper, while the Dark War Witch, which came out in November 2021, is uses a corojo 99 wrapper. The cigars are made at AGANORSA Leaf’s Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A. factory.

Bey expects that the cigars will begin shipping in mid-July, right around when the show happens, though told halfwheel that the boxes are still being produced and may not be ready to meet that timeline.

Whenever they ship, they will head to stores wearing new bands, as Bey is updating the bands of the War Witch lines as well as the Lalibela line. Bey worked with Cigar Dojo in creating the new designs.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
