The two most legendary AVO limited editions are coming back this year: AVO 22 and AVO LE05.
Avo Uvezian celebrated 2002 by paying tribute to the number 22. Two different cigars were sold—one for America and one for Europe—as a tribute to the number, which is the day he was born on, the day his sister was born on and the day he arrived in the U.S., a 22nd.
The cigar was packaged in unique canisters, part of the directive which Uveizan led himself. Now, the American version is back. In June, Davidoff of Geneva USA will release 3,200 canisters of 19 cigars: each measuring 5 7/8 x 50, the same as the original.
It uses an Ecuadorian sun grown wrapper over a Dominican binder and four different Dominican fillers, just like the original. Packaging has been updated, though pays tribute to the original.
The 2018 version of the AVO 22 is priced at $15.
Three years later—in 2005—the AVO brand released another limited edition, simply called LE05. It will return this September, also in updated packaging.
Like the original, it uses an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Dominican binder and Dominican fillers. Production will be limited to 1,500 boxes of 20 cigars, each offered to retailers in master cases of five boxes.
The size is a 5 3/8 x 50 robusto extra.
Pricing is also $15 per cigar.
The AVO LE05 was notably missing from the AVO Greatest Hits Sampler, released in 2014, which featured one of each of the company’s other annual limited editions.
Both cigars feature a secondary band celebrating the 30th anniversary of the AVO brand.
