At last year’s 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show, Selected Tobacco S.A. showed off a limited edition Atabey Humidor, though it wasn’t ready to take orders for the new item. A year later, the humidor will go on sale.
Selected Tobacco S.A. has announced that at this year’s 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, which takes place July 8-11 in Las Vegas, it will release the Atabey Limited Humidor.
“I have worked on many international projects throughout my career,” said Nelson Alfonso, principal of Selected Tobacco, in a press release. “This Atabey Humidor is the most special to my family as it celebrates the entire line of Atabey.”
Atabey is the supreme goddess for the Taino people, who occupied present-day Cuba as well as much of the Caribbean. Taíno people are credited with introducing Europeans to the act of smoking tobacco.
Each humidor has an MSRP of $3,999 and comes with 60 Atabey cigars, all of which were rolled in 2017. Selected Tobacco S.A. says that there will only be 60 humidors released this year.
Inside each humidor are five of the following:
- Atabey Dioses (8 x 50)
- Atabey Benditos (7 1/4 x 58)
- Atabey Spiritus (7 x 40)
- Atabey Misticos (6 3/4 x 56)
- Atabey Ritos (6 1/8 x 55)
- Atabey Duendes (6 1/8 x 54)
- Atabey Delirios (5 3/4 x 55)
- Atabey Sabios (5 1/4 x 52)
- Atabey Brujos (5 x 52)
- Atabey Divinos (4 2/5 x 50)
- Atabey Idolos (4 x 55)
- Atabey Hechizos (4 x 40)
United Cigars, which distributes Selected Tobacco S.A.’s products in the U.S., says the first humidor will be “on display” this month at Industrial Cigar in Frisco, Texas. It expects to begin shipping the humidors to stores in late summer.
