For the second time this year, Altadis U.S.A. is bringing Nicaragua to the Romeo y Julieta brand, as the company has announced the Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua, a new Nicaraguan puro made by Plasencia Cigars S.A. at their Nicaraguan factory.
The line will be offered in four sizes, each offered in 25-count boxes.
- Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua Bully (5 x 50)
- Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua Toro (6 by 50)
- Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua Churchill (7 x 52)
- Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua Magnum (6 by 60)
While specific pricing has not been announced, single cigars are reported to retail from $6.80 to $7.95, before taxes, when they arrive on store shelves in July.
News of the new line was reported by Cigar Insider. E-mails sent to representatives from Altadis U.S.A. seeking to confirm the accuracy of the report have gone unanswered.
Earlier this year, Thompson Cigar in Tampa, Fla. received the Romeo y Julieta RyJ Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez as a store exclusive. It’s also not the first time that Plasencia Cigars has created a Nicaraguan cigar for the Romeo y Julieta brand, as in 2016 they crafted the Romeo 505 Nicaragua by Romeo y Julieta, the first completely Nicaraguan Romeo that was also made in the country, and with the name a nod to Nicaragua’s telephone country code.
