In the summer of 2020, four cigar companies teamed up for a series of multi-city events to sell cigars to retailers. Dubbed “The Traveling Road Show,” the hope was to serve as a replacement for the 2020 PCA Convention & Trade Show, the annual mid-summer trade show that was canceled that year due to COVID-19.

This year, the PCA Convention & Trade Show took place in late March, meaning there is once again a void on the summer calendar. After a multi-year hiatus, The Traveling Road Show is back. Four companies—albeit not the same quartet—have announced that they will be holding The Traveling Road Show, taking place between July 29-Aug. 9 with stops in 16 cities.

The four companies are:

  • Altadis U.S.A.
  • CLE/Asylum
  • Oliva Cigar Co.
  • Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc.

The 16 stops include:

  • July 29-30 — Naples, Fla. (Burn by Rocky Patel, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • July 30-31 — Pittsburgh (Burn by Rocky Patel, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • July 31 — Snoqualmie, Wash. (Snoqualmie Casino, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • July 31-Aug. 1 — Atlanta (Burn by Rocky Patel, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • July 31-Aug. 1 — Norridge, Ill. (Rocky Patel Cigar Lounge, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 1-2 — Alexandria, Va. (CREX, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 1-2 — Cincinnati (Montgomery Inn, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 1-2 — Mooresville, N.C. (Casa de Montecristo, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 2-3 — Bellflower, Calif. (The Maynes Event Center, 9 a.m.-6 p.m./9 a.m.-2 p.m.)
  • Aug. 5-6 — Phoenix (The Ainsworth Phx, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 5-6 — Haverhill, Mass. (Roma Restaurant, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 6-7 — Dallas (Casa de Montecristo, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 7-8 — Houston (Casa de Montecristo, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 7-8 — Ivyland, Pa. (SZ Wholesale, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 7-8 — Stamford, Conn. (Sign of the Whale, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Aug. 8-9 — Kansas City, Mo. (Outlaw, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)

These events are not for consumers; instead, these companies plan on selling cigars to local retailers, who are asked to sign up by appointment via sales representatives of the four companies.

“We are excited to bring the ‘Traveling Cigar Road Show’ back to the trade this summer,” said Rocky Patel, founder of Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc., in a press release. “The cigar industry is built on camaraderie and friendship, and we plan to bring a memorable experience for all attendees.”

Both Oliva and Rocky Patel participated in the 2020 version of the event, joined by Alec Bradley and Crowned Heads.
