In Volume 2 of their Red Badge Report, Alec Bradley formally announced one of their newest cigars, the American Sun Grown. The e-mail, sent out Wednesday, says that the cigar will be out in the next few weeks.
The cigar is described as similar to the American Classic, though the Nicaraguan Habano Jalapa wrapper is said to deliver “a little more body and spice” than the Honduran Connecticut that is used on the American Classic. MSRP is said to be around $5 per cigar.
News of the cigar started surfacing in March when George Sosa, VP of Sales for Alec Bradley, did a video interview with Emerson’s Cigars that mentioned this cigar, as well as several other projects including the 2012 edition of the Fine & Rare and a new line of It’s a Boy / It’s a Girl cigars.
Sizes for the American Sun Grown have not been announced yet, though the American Classic is currently offered in six vitolas: Corona, Toro, Robusto, Churchill, Torpedo and Gordo.
The e-mail also suggested that a “massive giveaway” of the new cigar could be happening in the coming weeks via the Alec Bradley Facebook and Twitter pages.
