In 2016, Julio and Justo Eiroa began experimenting with growing Sumatra-seed tobacco in Honduras. Now, JRE Tobacco Co. is nearly ready to start selling a cigar with a Sumatra-seed wrapper from Honduras.

The Aladino Sumatra uses the aforementioned wrapper over an internal blend that is described as “tobacco varieties of undisclosed origin from (the) JRE Tobacco Farm” in Honduras. It will begin shipping this October in a single 6 x 52 size with an MSRP of $16 per cigar.

JRE says that the brand “shines light on a younger side to Aladino. With the fourth generation getting more involved, a more modern play on box design felt like a natural progression for the brand, while keeping the traditional Aladino band and elegant presentation.”

As such, this is the first Aladino cigar that does not have the Aladino image on the inside of the box.

JRE will show off the Aladino Sumatra for retailers at this week’s 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas.
