The Trinidad Cabildos Edición Limitada 2024 has gone on sale in the U.K.

In late June, a Trinidad-focused Habanos World Days—a multi-day event that is held in select countries each year—took place in London. During that event, Habanos S.A. and Hunters & Frankau—the U.K.’s distributor of Cuban cigars—celebrated the 55th anniversary of the Trinidad brand, including a humidor auction that raised €5.15 million ($6.53 million) for the Cuban health system. Included in that humidor auction was the Trinidad 55th Anniversary Fundadores Vintage 10 humidor made by S.T. Dupont, which contained 55 Trinidad Fundadores cigars aged for 10 years.

The event also marked the debut of the Trinidad Cabildos Edición Limitada 2024, a 6 1/8 (156mm) x 49 toro extra cigar. As it did with the Cohiba 55 Aniversario Edición Limitada 2021, the cigars released during the U.K. launch are packaged differently than the ones that will eventually ship to other markets. Those cigars get Premier Edition packaging, which includes the word “PREMIER” on  the band and are sold in five-count boxes instead of the 12-count boxes that will be used for most of the Cabildos. A total of 10,000 of the five-count boxes have been made. This appears to be part of a broader trend of Habanos S.A., the Cuban cigar monopoly, releasing its cigars in smaller quantity packaging, something that has become more frequent as prices for Cuban cigars have exploded.

Since 2005, the Edición Limitada program has followed a very consistent format. Each year, Habanos S.A. creates three new cigars as Edición Limitada releases. Unlike the Cuban cigar company’s Edición Regional or Gran Reserva/Reserva programs, seemingly any brand can be selected for an Edición Limitada release. The cigars are vitolas that are not otherwise offered in that specific brand, meaning that a Cohiba Lancero or Robusto could not be selected for an Edición Limitada release, but there could be a diadema used for a Cohiba Edición Limitada as that vitola is not currently sold.

The cigars carry a gold and black secondary band that says Edición Limitada and the year they are released. In addition to being a unique vitola for the brand, Habanos S.A. says that Edición Limitada cigars use tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region of Pinar del Rió, which is aged for a minimum of two years.

For 2024, the three releases are:

  • H. Upmann Magnum Finite — 5 1/8 (130mm) x 53 (Singulares)
  • Ramón Allones Absolutos — 6 3/8 (162mm) x 47 (Cazadores Especiales)
  • Trinidad Cablidos —  6 1/8 (156mm) x 49 (Nuevos)

It’s unclear when the Cabildos will ship to other markets as well as when the H. Upmann and Ramón Allones will ship.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
