Effective Sept. 1, 2019, those purchasing tobacco in Wilkin County, Minn. will need to be 21.

On Tuesday, commissioners of the western Minnesota county voted unanimously to increase the minimum age too purchase tobacco from 18 to 21.

Wilkin County has a population around 6,500. It is located along the North Dakota border, about 40 miles southeast of Fargo, N.D.
