West Tampa Tobacco Co. has announced that it will be bringing back the first—and so far—only cigar in its Attic Series for another limited production run, with the first batch going to Cigars Daily, a retailer based in Phoenix, Ariz.

All the details of the original Attic are the same for this second production, meaning it’s a 6 x 54 toro extra that features a blend using a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a binder from Condega, Nicaragua, and fillers from Condega and Estelí. Production is once again handled by Garmendia Cigars Co. in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Pricing is also being kept the same, at $13 per cigar and $182 for a box of 14 cigars. A total of 2,500 boxes are being made for this release, with 2,000 designated for the U.S. market and 500 boxes slated to head overseas to the international markets that carry West Tampa Tobacco Co.’s products. The original batch, which came out in December 2022, was limited to 2,000 boxes of 14 cigars.

“West Tampa Tobacco Company is pleased to partner with Cigars Daily to offer the Cigars Daily Nation a sneak peek of our encore run of Attic Series,” said Gus Martinez, president and co-owner of West Tampa Tobacco Co., via a press release. “While supplies of this Daily Edition are limited, we wanted to thank the Cigars Daily Nation for all of your support of West Tampa and we look forward to continuing to bring our loyal fans new and exciting blends.”

For this release, 5,000 of the 35,000 cigars for this second edition are being released through Cigars Daily. The return of the West Tampa Cigar Co. Attic kicks off a new series for Cigars Daily, which is being called Daily Edition Cigars. As such, the cigars sold by the retailer will come with an additional sticker on them. Tim Swanson, owner of Cigars Daily, said that the series is being launched to feature limited edition, exclusive, and brand new cigars from the best cigar makers in the American market. “Each Daily Edition release has been planned to offer cigar fans a unique and exclusive taste of some of the best tobaccos and blending that the industry has to offer,” he told halfwheel.

As for the rest of the cigars, they will be offered to retailers attending the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show, happening in late March. The company has not yet announced when the cigars will ship to those stores.

Swanson said he expects to have the cigars available for sale in his shop and on the Cigars Daily website on or before March 1.

The West Tampa Tobacco Co. Attic Series is described as being a journey into the mind of company co-founder Rick Rodriguez, who has spent approximately 30 years in the premium cigar business. The cigars are said to be blends that he has kept locked away in his attic and will tell a unique story that uncovers the mystique of blending some of the world’s best cigars.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
