For the fourth year in a row, How Bout That Cigar will host its mid-summer “Industry Hive Mind” show and I’ll be a part of it. I’m admittedly not a regular listener of cigar podcasts, but I feel like this particular show is rather unique.

First, it’s a mixture of guests: Skip Martin of RoMa Craft Tobac (a manufacturer), Abe Dababneh of Smoke Inn/Kiss My Ash (a retailer and radio host), John McTavish of Developing Palates (a blogger) and me (also a blogger). There’s obviously the HBTC guys as well, so media-skewed, but not just media. Second, this is the fourth year that the same quartet has done this show, every year in July. I find that last point to be very interesting as I imagine there aren’t many podcasts that make a point of bringing on the same roster of guests at the same time each year, though this might be the last time we do it in July.

I’m sure we will spend a fair bit of time recapping the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, but this show also serves as a mid-summer check-in on the cigar industry. As is the HBTC theme, we will try to burn cigars, not bridges.

I just want to say that How Bout That Cigar was particularly adamant about doing this show again and I appreciate that. It seems important to them, so hopefully we as guests can deliver, without burning bridges.
