At this year’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, Jason Holly of Viva Republica began approaching certain retailers for a new project called Ivy.

While it’s starting as a singular line, Ivy seems destined to be a sub-brand for Viva Republica. The first release is slated to debut in late January at an event at Casa de Montecristo in Countryside, Ill.

Ivy will use an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Dominican, Nicaraguan and a proprietary filler. Holly told halfwheel that five sizes are already rolled, but one size might be held back when it launches.

Only 100 accounts will carry Ivy at the start.

Like the rest of Viva Republica’s products, Ivy is being rolled at La Aurora in the Dominican Republic and will be distributed by Miami Cigar & Co.
