The second cigar in Villiger’s new Limited Release began shipping to stores today.

It’s the Villiger Limited Release No. 041, a 4 3/4 x 52 petit robusto that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Dominican binder and Dominican fillers. The cigar might not look like a typical petit robusto thanks to its 109-style cap, which is a hybrid between the round cap of a normal robusto and the pointed tip of a belicoso. The first Villiger Limited Release, a 6 x 54 box-pressed toro, shipped to stores in December.

The MSRP is set at $20 per cigar and production is limited to 4,000 cigars.

Villiger’s says it wants to “showcase our blending capabilities, selecting the finest tobacco and blending them into excellent cigars.” As such, production is limited and the cigars are aged for six months before being released.

The blends themselves will be different for each release. For context, the Limited Release Toro used a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian habano binder and fillers from Nicaragua. It was limited to 5,000 cigars.

Because of the small production runs, Villiger Cigars North America is forgoing traditional cigar boxes. Instead, it selected 50 retailers to carry the Limited Release Series and sent a display humidor to each store.

Those who purchase the first Villiger Limited Release Toro might realize the bands on the two cigars are different. That’s because the company is using red and white bands for the cigars that are made at Villiger de Nicaragua, while cigars made at ABAM—like the No. 041—will use a blue and gold band.

As for the 041 name, it refers to the number given to the shelf in the aging room where these cigars were stored.
