Viaje has announced that a pair of cigars will be heading to stores early next week: a new release called Gojira, and the return of the Skull and Bones Daisy Cutter.

The company has not announced many details about Gojira, other than that it is a 6 x 54 “behemoth will attack your palate in the best of ways.” It comes in individual coffins packed 13 to a box.

The cigar appears to get its name from the Hepburn romanization of the Japanese version of Godzilla, though the company has not confirmed that assumption.

The company also announced the return of the Skull and Bones Daisy Cutter, a 4 x 54 petite robusto that debuted in 2010 and became one of the company’s most well-known releases. It uses a sun grown criollo wrapper with Nicaraguan tobacco used in both the binder and filler. It is the first time that the cigar has been released since 2020.

The company did not announce pricing for either cigar, but did say that they will begin shipping to stores on Monday, Sept. 23.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
