Tobacco Plus Expo has been delayed to May 12-14, 2021.

What is typically the first cigar-related trade show of the year—originally scheduled for Jan. 27–29, 2021—will now take place much later in the year.

Most of the other details remain the same, it will take place from Wednesday-Friday at the Las Vegas Convention Center. In addition, the first day starts at noon, whereas the other days begin at 10:30 a.m. The new dates will mean that it will take place after the TAA Meeting and Convention—scheduled for April—but before the PCA Convention & Trade Show and InterTabac 2021.

“A lot of work has already gone into the planning of a blockbuster TPE 2021, so when we were presented with the opportunity to move the show to May, we knew we needed to jump on it,” said Ben Stimpson, managing director of TMG, in a press release. “It is our hope that the later timing allows the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19 to improve and gets us well out of range of the traditional winter flu season. Plus, the warmer weather of May gives us more options to safely execute the business and networking aspects of the show.”

TPE is different from the PCA Convention & Trade Show, formerly the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, in that it includes all tobacco products and not just cigars. In recent years, TPE has tried to attract more premium cigar brands and has gone as far as to divide the show geographically between the traditional tobacco products, like cigars, and the e-cigarette, vaping and CBD products.

The trade show is owned by Kretek International, which also owns the tobacco distributor Phillips & King, the cigar brand Ventura Cigar Co. and Tobacco Business, a magazine and website.

CES 2021, typically the largest January trade show in Las Vegas, announced last month that it would not be holding an in-person event due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
