In a few weeks, Stoic Cigars’ debut release will go on sale.
Stoic is a new company from Vance Taylor, and its cigars are produced at Klaas Kelner’s factory in the Dominican Republic. Its debut line is called Stoic, which uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper and binder over fillers from the Dominican Republic, the U.S. and an undisclosed South American country.
When it launches next month, there will be four vitolas:
- Stoic Courage (5 x 50) — $10.68 (Box of 20, $213.60)
- Stoic Justice (6 x 52) — $11.68 (Box of 20, $233.60)
- Stoic Wisdom (7 x 48) — $12.88 (Box of 20, $257.60)
- Stoic Moderation (5 1/2 x 46) — $10.68 (Box of 20, $213.60)
This is a regular production line, though the initial shipment contains 250 boxes for both the Courage and Justice and 125 boxes for each of the other two vitolas.
The brand will debut at a Nov. 16 event at Summit Cigar Co. in Akron, Ohio. Taylor told halfwheel that other retailers can expect to receive the cigars within 30 days of the event.
On the band, there are four icons representing courage, justice, temperance and wisdom.
“Stoic Cigars is more than just a premium product; it’s a symbol of self-improvement and personal empowerment,” said Taylor in a press release. “By integrating the principles of mindfulness and self-reflection with the craftsmanship and culture of premium, hand-rolled cigars, we’re creating an experience that resonates with both the palate and the spirit.”
Each box will include a QR code that takes people to a website that further explains the blend.
“Klaas is obsessed with quality and that’s so important to me,” said Taylor. “He grew up in his family’s tobacco fields and, despite his young age, knows more about tobacco – how to select it, store it, prepare it, and assemble it to create flawless cigars – than most industry veterans twice his age.”
While Stoic is new, this is not the first time Taylor has developed a cigar. In 2016, he worked with LUJ on a cigar called Le Couturier.
“I’ve known Vance for 10 plus years now,” said Matt Waris, owner of Summit, in a press release. “He’s always had a unique ability to find great cigars others have missed, and a creative outlook on business and life. When he called to tell me he was going all in on a cigar brand, I was pumped to be a part of the journey. Having had the chance to smoke a few ahead of the debut, I can say he has truly crafted something unique and special. People are going to dig it for sure!”
