Effective June 19, smoking on the six Cape Cod National Seashore beaches has been banned. The ban—which affects Coast Guard Beach, Head of the Meadow Beach, Herring Cove Beach, Marconi Beach, Nauset Light Beach and Race Point Beach—was proposed in April. The ban comes over concerns regarding cigarette butts and public health.
The Cape Cod Seashore stretches over 40,000 miles on the eastern seaboard. While governed by the National Park Service, the area is located in Barnstable County.
