Both the Sherman City Council and the city’s mayor have requested a ban that would prohibit smoking in bars and restaurants the north Texas city.

According to Mayor Cary Wacker, a proposed ordinance is expected to be presented by early summer. This will be the second summer in a row the city has looked at banning smoking in restaurants.

Sherman is located in Grayson County. It is less than 15 miles from the Oklahoma border and roughly 60 miles north of Dallas. It has a population just below 40,000.
