The CroMagnon and Aquitaine Atlatls from RoMa Craft Tobac are getting a new home in the coming weeks as they will soon be heading to Fine Ash Cigars in Avondale, Ariz.

Skip Martin of RoMa Craft confirmed that the 7 x 38 lanceros are heading west after previously being available at PodmanCigars.com and as event-only releases. They will still be used for events, Martin said, noting that all of the store exclusives produced by RoMa Craft are used “sparingly” for events.

Sam Lopez of Fine Ash Cigars told halfwheel that he expects to have the cigars within a few weeks.

The CroMagnon Atlatl was reviewed on halfwheel in November 2012. The term atlatl refers to a spear-throwing tool that traces its roots back some 17,000 – 21,000 years to caves in France during the Upper Paleolithic Era, according to Wikipedia. The tool added speed and range to spears used during that era, and the device is still used in hunting and sporting competitions to this day. News of the vitolas first came out in late April 2012, along with pictures of each.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
