At last year’s IPCPR convention and trade show, Corporación Cigar Export showed off a new line, Don Julio Punta Espada. At this year’s IPCPR trade show—it will be back again. The cigar is made to honor Don Julio Samuel Reyes Fermín, a third generation tobacco grower for the family.

Don Julio Punta Espada

The Don Julio Punta Espada is one of three lines the company is showing off at this year’s trade show alongside the SAGA Blend No. 7 and Golden Age. The cigar is made up of leaves from the company’s Dominican Republic fields including a corojo mejorado wrapper, corojo único wrapper and three different fillers: habano 20/20 ligero, HVA ligero and piloto mejorado ligero.

Five sizes of the Don Julio Punta Espada will be offered upon release Gordo (6 x 58), Belicoso (6 3/4 x 54), Gigante (7 x 60), Paca (5 x 58, box-pressed) and Robusto (5 x 50). Reyes describes the cigars as medium-bodided, but full in flavor.

The Don Julio Punta Espada will be shown off in the Royal Gold booth, although Reyes is handling its own distribution. It is made at the family’s Corporación Cigar Export S.R.L. factory in the Dominican Republic.
