Kevin Brown has been in the cigar industry since 2016 when he and several business partners opened the Maduro Marauders Cigar Lounge in Tampa. Three years later, he launched Konscious Cigars in 2019 and has since grown his business to include three different regular production blends: Konscious Cameroon, Konscious Habano and Konscious Maduro.

Along with 15 other smaller companies in the Boutique Cigar Association of America’s (BCA) pavilion, the Konscious Cigars booth was made up of a display table combined with shelving. The space was a large, shared area that was billed as a way for smaller companies to take part in the PCA Convention & Trade Show with an overall cost of exhibiting.

During our conversation, Brown told me that his business continues to grow in leaps and bounds and that while he wanted to concentrate on existing blends and clients for PCA 2023; he is hoping to have some new releases ready to release in 2024.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
