One of the things I love about the PCA Convention & Trade Show is that every year, I am surprised by a booth or product I knew about before I walked in the door. This year, the company that fits the bill was EazyAsh, makers of the only collapsible, disposable ashtray currently on the market.

Founded by former veteran Lawrence Jenkins, EazyAsh is designed to be a one-use, easily assembled ashtray for hikers, outdoor enthusiasts or really anyone who needs a portable ashtray option. It also includes two notches cut out on either side and can be stored flat until it is needed.

The EazyAsh booth is hard to miss, with a colorful backdrop and plenty of samples that seem to draw people over from across the aisle. Jenkins and his business partner Charless Jackson are jovial and authentic, easy to talk to and obviously excited about their creation.

The EazyAsh is made of heat resistant materials that weighs 28 grams and can be assembled in less than 20 seconds. The company has five different base designs, but limited edition versions as well as custom printed designs are also available.

I have worn many hats in my life up to this point: I started out as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, then transitioned to photographing weddings—both internationally and in the U.S.—for more than a decade. After realizing that there was a need for a cigar website containing better photographs and more in-depth information about each release, I founded my first cigar blog, SmokingStogie, in 2008. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars, and it was one of the predecessors to halfwheel, which I co-founded.
