Colibri was surprisingly quiet with announcements before the show, not letting any details out about what the company had in store for this year’s PCA Convention & Trade Show. It wasn’t for lack of having new products, however, as the company is adding a pair of new lighters as well as an interesting new colorway for one of its core collections and expanding the offerings of an accessory you might not think about. Beyond that, the company has a new logo.

As for the company’s booth, it is familiar from years past, with a couple of large display panels showing off lifestyle images while display cases showed off the actual products. In the middle of those were several seating areas that allow for retailers to meet with the company’s sales representatives and place their orders. Of note, the company decided not to send any of its office staff to the trade show, opting to have the booth staffed by its sales reps.

Colibri Ascari

The Ascari is a new triple-torch lighter that offers an integrated dual punch on its backside, as well as a large flame adjuster on the base of the lighter. It’s not the flashiest of lighters, but it certainly earns consideration for an everyday carry as it offers plenty of flame, and if you prefer a punch cutter, you’ve got a pair from which to choose. It’s offered in five colors: black, silver, blue, red and green.

MSRP: $100

Colibri Aura

The Aura is one of the more interesting lighters I’ve seen on the floor, as this long, slender lighter offers a flat flame. I didn’t get a precise measurement, but I’d say it’s about 10 inches long, which certainly isn’t pocket-friendly, but would make for an interesting table lighter. It could also double as a versatile household lighter if you use a lot of candles or have a frequently used fireplace. It’s available in six colors: black, white and rose gold, black and rose gold, blue, chrome, and rose gold.

MSRP: $59

Release Date: July 2021

Colibri Quasar Accessories – New Color

The Quasar line of accessories, with its pyramid-shaped design, is easily the flagship of the company’s offerings, and this year the company is rolling out a new color for the collection, a rich navy blue. Pricing and functionality all stay the same, so if you’ve been waiting and wanting to get something from the Colibri Quasar collection, you’ve got a new option to pick from, or if you’re just wanting to add some new colors to your collection, this should make for a very good option.

Colibri Leather Pouch

If you look in the center of the ashtray, you will notice a leather pouch, which the company has updated in a couple of ways. First, there are now two sizes available, referred to as large and extra large, and it’s available in blue, brown, black and red. You’ll be seeing them in the not too distant future as a way to protect your favorite lighter.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
