Origineer Design Releases HumiForm Cigar Humidifier
Building off a love for keeping musical instruments in pristine condition, Origineer Design is now turning its attention to cigars with the release of the HumiForm V 50 cigar humidifier, which has gotten a full release to consumers looking for a new ways to keep their cigars in ideal condition.
The design, which received a U.S. patent in mid-November, starts with a 450ml acrylic reservoir of water or propylene glycol, which the company says cuts the refilling frequency down to six to 10 months. That moisture is routed to the humidor by way of a filament that is channeled through an adjustable stanchion tube with tee that is removed to allow for the reservoir to be refilled. The units are partially fabricated and assembled in the USA.
It’s a fairly sizable device, measuring 6″ x 3″ x 2″, but is said to be able to fit comfortably in a standard 50-count humidor, displacing about six cigars, according to the company.
“The bow tie design works well and distributes humidity evenly in the 70 percent relative humidity range,” said Damon DeBusk, founder of Origineer Design, via a press release. “Depending on how much water vapor you want to be released, you expose more filament. Best of all, you won’t have to touch it for almost a year in some cases.”
The HumiForm 50 V retails for $65 and is available for purchase via the company’s website, with a push being made to get it into retail tobacconists.
The company got its start with its Musik Tent instrument humidors, which are designed to both store and display stringed instruments. The company sought out to make a product that both replaced sponges or pouches for humidification, as well as allowing the instruments to be on display and readily accessible instead of stored away in cases. That product is designed to create a stable, uniform environment of 45 percent relative humidity.
