Earlier this year, Nestor Miranda celebrated his 80th birthday, but the cigar celebrating the milestone birthday is scheduled to debut next month at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show.

While the bands and boxes suggest that this is called Nestor Miranda Collection 80th Anniversary, the cigar is officially being called the NM80. To create the line, Jason Wood, vp of Miami Cigar & Co. and Nestor Miranda’s son-in-law, enlisted the help of My Father Cigars, who came up with a Nicaraguan puro that is designed as having a medium-bodied profile.

“I really wanted to create a cigar that Nestor could be proud of,” Wood said in a press release. “The entire project was tailor-made for Nestor, vitolas, blend, and packaging all have that Miranda elegance that makes him the man that we all love.”

The line is being offered in three sizes:

  • NM80 Ruky (5 5/8 x 48/52) — $18 (Box of 10, $180)
  • NM80 Lancero (7 1/2 x 38) — $19 (Box of 10, $190)
  • NM80 Danno (7 x 56) — $20 (Box of 10, $200)

Production is limited to 500 boxes of each size. The company has not announced a date when the cigars will begin shipping to retailers.

In 2018, Miami Cigar & Co. worked with My Father Cigars on the Nestor Miranda Collection 75th Anniversary, a 7 1/4 x 57 salomon that was also a limited edition Nicaraguan puro.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
