Altadis U.S.A. has added a third city to its group of Montecristo regional editions, Las Vegas. The Montecristo Las Vegas Connoisseur Edition has begun shipping to retailers in the area, according to a report from Cigar Insider. Previous regional editions have been made for New York and Texas, both of which were released in the past 12 months.
The Montecristo Las Vegas Connoisseur Edition shares the 6 x 60 vitola used in the other editions as well as a MSRP of $14 per stick. It comes packed in 10-count boxes that are only available at retailers in Las Vegas.
The cigar is being made at Tabacalera de Garcia Ltd. in the Dominican Republic and uses a different blend from its predecessors, with an Ecuadoran Cubano wrapper over Dominican binder and filler. The New York edition had used a Nicaraguan binder while the Texas version had Dominican binder and filler with an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper.
In July, Altadis added a second vitola to the New York Edition, the Montecristo Connoisseur Edition No. 2, a 6 1/8 x 54 box-pressed Torpedo with an MSRP of $11.26.
A fourth regional edition, this time for Chicago, is on the way for early 2013.
(A previous version of this story listed the wrapper as Ecuadoran and has been updated to Ecuadoran Cubano, and that the cigar would be available to retailers in Nevada as opposed to just being available in Las Vegas.)
