The second Mil Días Marranitos release is off to stores.

Like the Mil Días Marranitos EL 2022, the 2023 Marranitos takes Crowned Heads’ regular Mil Días blend and replaces the Ecuadorian habano wrapper with an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf. The Mil Días Marranitos E648 LE2023 measures 6 1/8 x 48. It uses the same internal blend as the regular Mil Días: a Nicaraguan binder over fillers from Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Peru.

The MSRP is set at $12.50 per cigar and the release is limited to 2,500 boxes of 12 cigars.

“Marranitos E648 is a nod to the man behind Mil Días, Eradio Pichardo,” said Jon Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads, in a press release when the cigar was announce last month. “I had another Marranitos release on the docket for 2023, and I asked Eradio what his favorite vitola was, which turned out to be a classic 6 1/8″ × 48. Unfortunately, the second half of last year saw a lot of misconceptions and confusion surrounding the Mil Días brand, and as a result, we intentionally took our foot off the gas on expanding the line. The Mil Días Marranitos E648 is our way of saying that Mil Dias is not changing, and that we are excited to continue working with Eradio Pichardo and his team at TacaNicsa.”

TacaNicsa is located in the same building as Tabacalera Pichardo, the factory that made Mil Días when the line debuted.

The factory’s name change is likely related to a split between Crowned Heads and Luciano Cigars, formerly known as ACE Prime, both of which made cigars at Tabacalera Pichardo. In September 2022, the two companies separately announced the distribution agreement that saw Crowned Heads distribute ACE Prime would come to an end in October. Previously, Luciano Cigars announced that it moved its production to its own factory and announced a second factory in Estelí.
