At the upcoming InterTabac 2024 trade fair, Maya Selva Cigars will be unveiling both a new line and a new installment of its limited edition, Zodiac-themed series.

The VZ Danlí is a new, regular production line that is part of the company’s Villa Zamorano brand and celebrates the cigar capital of Honduras with what the company calls “the genuine expression of its origin.” It is a Honduran puro, using a Carmelita wrapper, which the company describes as a varietal grown for it. The binder is from the Trojes region, while the filler contains what is described as “a selection from the best tobaccos from Honduras.”

It is offered in two sizes:

  • VZ Danlí Robusto (5 x 50) — $7.50 (Box of 25, $187.50)
  • VZ Danlí Toro (6 x 56) — $8.50 (Box of 25, $212.50)

It is produced at the company’s Fábrica de Puros MSC in Danlí and will begin shipping in October.

Maya Selva will once again celebrate the Lunar New Year with a limited edition release, the Año de la Serpiente, named for the upcoming Year of the Snake. It is a 6 1/8 x 52 pirámide that uses a Honduran wrapper grown in the Jamastrán region, a double binder with one leaf coming from Jamastrán and the other from Estelí, Nicaragua, and a filler that combines tobacco from Honduras and Nicaragua. The company calls it a strong profile highlighted by cedar and earthy aromas.

The Año de la Serpiente 2025 is also made at Fábrica de Puros MSC and will be priced at $25 per cigar and $250 for a box of 10 cigars. It is limited to 2,025 boxes and is scheduled to be released in November.

The InterTabac 2024 trade fair runs from Sept. 19-21 in Dortmund, Germany.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
