The Madison County Board of Health—using the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic to help justify their decision—is pushing to ban smoking in the county’s casino, bars and fraternal organizations.

On Friday, the Board of Health moved forward with a motion to explore banning smoking in the aforementioned businesses. According to The Herald Bulletin, Dr. Troy Abbott, president of the Board of Health, said that smoking could increase the risk of coronavirus transmission.

Madison County has a population of around 130,000; it is located 35 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
