Los Angeles County is considering a proposal that would ban the sale of flavored tobacco products.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the county’s Board of Supervisors is expected to take up the matter next month, which could outlaw the sale of flavored tobacco products as soon as February 2020. The proposal allegedly calls for a ban on the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes, as well as flavored e-cigarettes and vaping products.
The measure is being pushed by a group called L.A. Families Fighting Flavored Tobacco, which is supported by a variety of anti-tobacco groups.
Los Angeles County—which includes the city of Los Angeles and some surrounding cities—has a population of over 10 million, larger than 41 states, and a GDP of over $700 billion, greater than that of Belgium.
