Lord Baltimore Distributors, which has been making its presence more known on a national level, will release its newest line of cigars at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show.
Hobson’s Choice Sapphire is being made by Perdomo and offered with two different wrapper options. There’s an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed version and the Hobson’s Choice Sapphire Maduro Maduro, which uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. Both blends use a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua.
Regardless of the wrapper option, both blends are offered in the same four sizes, all of which are 54-ring gauge:
- Hobson’s Choice Sapphire Connecticut/Maduro Robusto (5 x 54) — $8.29 (Box of 20, $165.80)
- Hobson’s Choice Sapphire Connecticut/Maduro Toro (6 x 54) — $8.79 (Box of 20, $175.80)
- Hobson’s Choice Sapphire Connecticut/Maduro Churchill (7 x 54) — $9.29 (Box of 20, $185.80)
- Hobson’s Choice Sapphire Connecticut/Maduro Torpedo (7 x 54) — $9.79 (Box of 20, $195.80)
The name “Hobson’s Choice” is an equine term that was used in English horse brokering, meaning “take it or leave it.” Steve Castro—who also co-owns Davidus Cigars with his brother David—has a horse farm that uses the same name.
Lord Baltimore says it will begin shipping Hobson’s Choice Sapphire on March 25, which is also the conclusion of the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show.
