This week, seven stores around the country will receive a new cigar from Somm.
The Somm Rioja Lancero is heading to select stores release. It’s a 7 x 39 lancero that uses the same blend as the rest of the Rioja line, which debuted in December 2023. That includes a three-year-old Dominican corojo wrapper over a three-year-old Sumatra binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, all of which are aged between three and four years. As with the other vitolas, it is made at Tabacalera Díaz Cabrera in the Dominican Republic.
Each cigar has an MSRP of $15 and production is limited to just 100 bundles of 10 cigars.
Vlada Stojanov, founder of Somm, says the reason why there just 1,000 cigars is that he didn’t intend on selling the cigars. Rather, they were made for his own personal use.
“My longstanding friendship with a number of retailers and their regulars who had a chance to try this size ultimately prevailed,” said Stojanov in a press release. “I’m grateful for their feedback and persistence in pushing me to share this with the broader cigar community. The production numbers are small, as these were intended for my personal use and as gifts.”
