La Sirena & La Aurora Partner for Merlion
La Sirena and La Aurora are formally partnering together for a new cigar to be launched at IPCPR 2012. The cigar, which will be known as Merlion, combines the mermaid theme of La Sirena and the lion moniker from La Aurora’s family name, León, which translates into lion. Merlion will be made at La Aurora’s E. León Jimenes Tabacalera in the Dominican Republic.
Three sizes are expected, although Miami Cigar & Co. has not confirmed details at this time. The blend will use an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Dominican binder and fillers.
Both La Aurora and La Sirena are distributed in the U.S. by Miami Cigar & Co. and share many other ties. La Sirena is represented by Arielle Ditkowich, daughter of Danny Ditkowich, who owns Tobacco Plaza, which is a La Aurora lounge.

Update: Miami Cigar & Co. has confirmed that the blend has changed and is now an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper over a Brazilian Sumatra binder and Brazilian, Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. In addition, the three sizes as of now are: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (5 1/2 x 54) and Gordo (6 x 58). The plan is now to have the cigars out in June, despite previous indication from Miami Cigar & Co. that the cigar would debut at IPCPR 2012.
