The Pipe & Pint in Greensboro, N.C. will get a month-long exclusive on the new La Flor Dominicana N.A.S., an all ligero cheroot that began as a store exclusive before gaining enough buzz to warrant nationwide release.

Jon Carney, vp of sales for La Flor Dominicana, confirmed the news to halfwheel on Friday, which was preceded by the store issuing a press release announcing that they would have the cigar for the month of April. Carney said that other retailers will be able to pre-order the cigar in about two weeks. The Pipe & Pint announced they will have the cigar available as of March 31.

The N.A.S. is a 5 1/2 x 42 cheroot made from Dominican pelo de oro ligero, a type of tobacco whose name translates as “hair of gold” and is a challenge to grow due to its susceptibility to disease. The tobacco used for N.A.S. is grown by Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana at the company’s farms in La Canela.

It was first released in November as a single store exclusive for Michael’s Tobacco of Keller, in Keller, Texas, and its sister store, Town & Country in Euless. The La Flor Dominicana N.A.S. was reviewed on halfwheel in December 2013.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
