There are more? Miami Cigar & Co. and La Aurora have already shed light on a host of new releases for the IPCPR show, but there are more. (By my count, MCC/La Aurora and Perdomo are currently leading the arbitrary competition for most new releases at the 2011 IPCPR, but that’s besides the point.) The Casa Miranda partnership with El Titan de Bronze and their former frontman Willy Herrera (who is now part of Drew Estate) has already been well publicized. The Nestor Miranda Gran Reserva is the next cigar from the partnership between the MCC head and José “Don Pepín” García, available in boxes of ten with a $9 MSRP. Barry Stein of acigarsmoker.com compiled most of the La Aurora releases, but there is more.
Most interesting is the Humo Jaguar, a partnership between Miami Cigar & Co. and Plasencia. Humo Jaguar is the name of the Honduran cigar festival that took place earlier this year in mid February. All of the participating factories in the Honduran cigar festival (which include Flor de Selva, Rocky Patel, Flor de Copan, Plasencia Cigar, Camacho, Raíces Cubanas, Altadis and General) were given an opportunity to create an entry into an inaugural cigar of the year competition. The blends were judged by a panel over the course of five days and the panel selected a winner. (I should note, it appears that not all of the festival manufactures partook.) Whatever the case, Plasencia won. The cigar will be offered in three formats: Robusto, Belicoso and Gigante (6 x 60). Jason Wood of Miami Cigar had this to say about the cigar, “I was really surprised by this cigar, very full-flavored and strong as (redacted) too.” (The press release can be found here, the translation isn’t great though.)
In addition, La Aurora’s namesake cigar, “La Aurora” will be receiving a slight blend tweak. Jason explained that they will be tweaking the Cameroon cigar to make it a bit stronger and will offer the reblend only to B&Ms. This was a decision made to help B&Ms compete against the catalogs on the line.
The Tatiana brand, named for Nestor’s daughter Tatiana, will be receiving a new line adding to its large portfolio of flavored cigars. Updated, it’s two additions to the Trio line: Tatiana Trio Sweet Euphoria & Tatiana Trio Fusion Frenzy.
For those counting, the La Aurora booth will have the following “new” releases:
- Casa Miranda
- Humo Jaguar
- La Aurora (Cameroon) Reblend/B&M Exclusive
- La Aurora 107 Maduro — Shipping in October.
- La Aurora Corojo — This cigar was shown at IPCPR 2010, but has not been offered to accounts, packaging will change.
- La Aurora Puro Vintage 04
- La Aurora Preferidos Gran Reserva
- La Sirena A — The extension will be offered to all accounts, currently only available at Tobacco Plaza.
- León Jimenes Prestige
- Nestor Miranda Gran Reserva
- Tatiana Trio Sweet Euphoria & Tatiana Trio Fusion Frenzy
That apparently is the full list, but I’ll believe it come Monday. For those wondering Perdomo has eight or nine new releases scheduled for the show. — el niño diablo.
