The new look La Aurora is heading to shelves.

Miami Cigar & Co., the distributor for the Dominican Republic’s oldest cigar brand, has informed retailers that the La Aurora Untamed, the company’s newest line, is now shipping. While Untamed keeps the lion-theme the company has long held, it’s a much different look for a company that is known for its traditional approach.

The cigar itself uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Dominican corojo binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Untamed is offered in five sizes: Robusto (5 x 50, $7.50), Belicoso (6 1/4 x 52, $9), Toro (5 1/2 x 54, $8.75), Corona Gorda (6 x 47, $7.75) and Gran (7 x 60, $11). All sizes come in boxes of 20, except Gran, which is sold in a box of 16.

Jason Wood, vp of Miami Cigar & Co., told halfwheel that the company expects another shipment within the next two weeks, which should accommodate all orders the company has taken since the cigar debuted at the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show in July.

Patrick Lagreid reviewed the cigar earlier this year.

La Aurora is celebrating its 111th anniversary this year. The company has announced an initiative to raise money to fight diabetes in the Dominican Republic. For every picture the company receives on social media using the hashtag “#LA111th” it will donate 11 cents to Patronato de Lucha contra la Diabetes de Santiago de los Caballeros.
