La Aurora Rebrands Two Lines Under Reserva Familiar

Barry Stein of Miami Cigar & Co. tweeted a picture of what are the first two editions of the Reserva Familiar line, or family reserve. Stein told halfwheel the line will encompass the already released Guillermo León by La Aurora line and the rebranded and relaunched Don Fernando line, which will appear at IPCPR.

Earlier in the month Guillermo León, president of La Aurora, told halfwheel that the Don Fernando line was going to go through some heavy rebranding before it relaunches. Previously, the cigar was available in a single size and looked identical to its counterparts in the León Jimenes line with one slight exception being the boxes read, “HECHOS ESPECIALAMENTE PARA DON FERNANDO A.”

When it returns at IPCPR, the Fernando León will feature a new wrapper, a Dominican-grown Corojo as opposed to the Cameroon that was originally on the cigar and will be offered in the same five current sizes as the Guillermo León by La Aurora: Belicoso, Corona, Corona Gorda, Gran Toro and Robusto. Previous statements indicated the line would likely be limited to only three vitolas.

Miami Cigar & Co. has confirmed the original Don Fernando Corona size (5 9/16 x 42) will not return, instead the cigar will be 5 1/2 x 42, identical to the Guillermo León by La Aurora Corona.

The cigar, which was the personal cigar of the late Don Fenando León, father of Guillermo, was previously only offered in the Corona vitola because that was all he smoked. Originally wrapped in a Cameroon wrapper, towards his later years the cigar switched to a Corojo wrapper from one of the family’s farms in the Dominican Republic.

Boxes for the Guillermo León by La Aurora are changing to include the Reserva Familiar moniker.

Stein also confirmed that other family members would be getting additions in the future, but he didn’t elaborate any further.
