Kafie 1901 Cigars is marking the end of its fifth year of operations with a new factory sampler featuring a 6 x 52 toro vitola in each of the seven blends produced at  Tabacalera G. Kafie y Cia. in Danlí, Honduras.

The toro vitola is new for each of the lines and was made just for the sampler. As far as the cigars inside, there is one cigar each of the Don Fernando Maduro Collection, Kafie 1901 Connecticut, Kafie 1901 Sumatra and Kafie 1901 San Andres, as well as the Tabacos San Jeronimo line in the Connecticut, Habano Natural and Habano Maduro blends.

Kafie Trading Co. began distributing the Tabacos San Jeronimo line in May 2016, after Dr. Gaby Kafie came across the brand during travels to the country and learned that the brand has been distributed throughout the Central American premium cigar market for decades. The brand is owned by Oscar Orlando Ferrera, who has overseen the company’s operations for over 20 years, with its roots dating back to the middle of the 20th century.

The sampler has an MSRP of $59.99 and is slated to go on sale as of Jan. 10, 2019. The company is producing a total of 2,000 samplers, which production limited to 500 samplers per quarter throughout 2019.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
