The entire portfolio of Kafie 1901 cigars is about to get a bit more expensive, as today the company announced a 5 percent increase across all of its non-bundled lines, while its bundle lines will increase by a flat $2 per bundle. It’s a move necessitated by an increase in the cost of production as well as further expenses related to FDA compliance, wrote Dr. Gaby Kafie.

“We value tremendously our distributors & retail partners across the globe and want you all to understand that this is being done in order to always deliver the finest quality premium cigars we can,” he said, noting that the company has resisted taking increases in recent months, even amidst construction of the company’s new factory and other pressures. “At this time it is inevitable,” he added, saying that to continue to negate these two factors “would be detrimental to our continued success.”

Kafie stated that this is the first time since the company’s inception six years ago that he has taken such an increase.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
