Shortly before last year’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, Island Lifestyle Importers made a rather large announcement for the company. The brand—most noted for its Tommy Bahama-branded accessories—would now be distributed by Ventura Cigar Co., the premium cigar operation affiliated with Phillips & King, a massive tobacco distributor. Despite the new distribution agreement last year, Island Lifestyle kept its own booth, something that changed this year.
For 2019, Island Lifestyle Importers took a corner of the Ventura Cigar Co. booth, which is much more seamless of an approach. Given the business of the Ventura booth, I imagine Island Lifestyle much prefers the current set up.
Tommy Bahama Hula Paradise Collection
While none of the models are new per se, there’s a new collection with a hula girl as the main design element. Ryan Frailing showed off the humidor below which features a rather unique inlay.
The piece that runs across the middle has been installed and shaped in a manner that makes it look seamless, something that seems a lot simpler than it is. The entire piece was created as one, crimped and cut to avoid disrupting any of the lines of the humidor. Frailing said that the company was down to less than 100 units of the humidor midway through day one.
