Pretty early on into the trade show I realized that my bag was a lot lighter than normal. Having our own workspace means I am not carrying a lot of things I usually carry around, including some of the heaviest of items. That said, there are some major changes.

  • Tumi Tahoe Dale — I seem to have converted most of the halfwheel team over to backpacks. This one is super simple and is holding up well.
  • MacBook Pro 15” (2017) — In December my laptop started freaking out and I opted for a new one in favor of stability. The USB-C life takes some time to get used to—and a lot of adaptors—but my back is thanking me for it.
  • Think Tank Cable Management 10 V 2.0 — Think Thank’s simple bag and Red Whip straps make carrying around the massive amount of adaptors a lot easier.

  • Sony A7RIII + Sony 16-35 ƒ/2.8 — We made the switch, but not to the Canon 1DX II that I predicted. I’ve loved our switch to Sony so far and the electronic viewfinder has been awesome at the trade show.
  • Sennheiser AVX — Hopefully you’ve heard how much better the audio is this year. Also, I’ve gotten a lot of comments about the mic flags. I really do like the auto-leveling and relative plug and play features of this Sennheiser set-up. That being said, these are rentals and not cheap.
  • Monopod — It’s annoying, but the videos look a lot better.
  • Moleskine Reporter Notebook — Back again x3.
  • Leuchtturm Medium Hardcover Lined Red — I continue to use this for jotting down notes, which happens a lot at dinners at the trade show.
  • Pilot Envelope Address Writing Gel Ink Pen — Part one of the pen duo.
  • Uni-ball Signo Broad UM-153 — Part two, now in colors.
  • Gerber 22-41830 EAB — In my pocket.
  • S.T.Dupont MaxiJet — I found this beat-up MaxiJet in a bag a few days before the trade show and have been using it ever since.
  • Davidoff Double Blade Cutter — My favorite cutter to date.
  • Sony WH-1000MX2 — A relatively new Bluetooth noise-canceling headphone, which sounds so much better than Bose.
  • Boveda + Small Bag — Less samples, more space.
  • Business Cards
  • Bottled Water — Smart Water in my 1L preferred size.
