IPCPR 2018: Vector KGM

While Vector KGM offers a range of accessories, including cutters, ashtrays, humidors, travel cases and more, the company seems to be best known for its lighters, and this year the company rolled out five new offerings as part of its 40th anniversary.

As for the booth, it is the same as has been used in recent years, with the company’s signature white, stepped tables holding display trays of the company’s new offerings as well as many of its existing pieces, along with the same kind of retail displays you’d see at your local tobacconist.

Vector Avenger

The Avenger is a long and slender single flame torch with a large fuel adjustment knob on the bottom and a locking switch to keep the flame going even if you don’t have your finger on the ignition. It also features a fold-out stand to hold it off the ground if you choose to use the ignition lock. It’s available in silver, gray, black, rose gold and black crackle.

Vector Icon

In the “how many ways are there to ignite butane” discussion, Vector submits the Icon, a triple flame torch that is ignited with a simple touch of the LED screen. It gets recharged via a standard USB cable and comes in red, yellow, black, gunmetal, chrome and silver. It’s one of the more expensive lighters in the company’s portfolio, and it’s being referred to a flagship piece for the company.

Vector Spade

This new flat-flame lighter works much like a single torch lighter but fans the flame out to make it wider, which means that it can light bigger cigars faster and more evenly. The side-squeeze lighter is available in a number of high-gloss metallic colors.

Vector Stinger

At first glance, this is one of the more interesting new lighters I saw on the floor; it can offer either a single or dual flame depending on your preference. There are two jets at the top of the lighter, and as you hold the lighter face up, the one on the right will always ignite. The fuel knob on the left side of the lighter controls the left flame; have it on when you fire up the ignition and you’ll get two flames, and you can cut the butane to that second torch at any time during use. It’s certainly not the most compact lighter on the show floor, but I’ll give credit where it’s due for coming up with a novel idea. It’s available in orange, silver, gold and black.

Vector Summit

A fairly typical single flame torch lighter in all but one respect: it uses a flint to ignite the butane as opposed to the more common piezo spark method. Essentially, it brings the ignition of a soft flame to the power of a torch.
