On Tuesday, Grace Sotolongo of CLE Cigars formally announced the launch of her own company, Sotolongo Cigars, which is a partnership between her and Christian Eiroa of CLE. The newly formed company has created its own Facebook page, with the introductory message “Welcome to Sotolongo Cigars! We have great new cigars in the works and coming to humidor near you very soon. Thank you for you support and love!”

Sotolongo Cigars noted in the company’s “About” section:

Established in 2013 by Grace Sotolongo and Christian Eiroa. Sotolongo Cigars brings you a new and different cigar smoking experience with Christian’s years of experience and Grace’s knowledge during the past 3 years and vast social media presence.

At the 2013 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show, it was announced that Sotolongo would be releasing her own cigar later in the year, with October as a tentative release date. The project is still in its very early stages, as no name, blend or pricing information had been set, though she said that she should likely have more concrete information about it next week. At the trade show, Sotolongo said that she is planning to travel to Honduras and Nicaragua to begin the blending process in the near future.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
